A Journey of Passion from Ancient Rome to Today

The story of Bagno di Roma began in the enchanting hills of Tuscany, Italy. When we discovered the ancient formula created by Galen, the physician from Pergamon (130–201 AD), a spark of excitement was lit within us. This special cream, which Galen called "Ceratum Galeni," was a blend of olive oil, beeswax, and nature’s most precious herbs. It was a formula that seemed to speak directly to the skin. As my wife Tuba and I brought this ancient recipe back to life, we realized that nature and beauty have always spoken the same language: simplicity and sincerity.

A Return to Essence: Soaps and Secret Recipes

When we returned to Istanbul in 2005, we had a single purpose: to carry Galen’s legacy into modern life. Our anti-cellulite soaps were more than just cleansing products — they were stories, uniting Anatolia’s dried thyme with Tuscany’s lavender. Over time, this sweet journey expanded to include goat milk soaps, bamboo-infused shower gels, and creams softened with organic olive oil. With every new formula, we saw that nature generously offers its own secrets of beauty.

Change Through Courage: Saying No to Mass Production

The year 2010 was a true turning point for us. While the industry moved toward mass production, we chose the opposite. We silenced the industrial machines and returned to craftsmanship. When we received Turkey’s first organic cosmetics certification, we made a promise: to use only what we knew, touched, and felt. And to stay faithful to nature’s rhythm and the wisdom of ancient artisans.

A Dream Workshop in Kazdağları

In 2016, we escaped the hustle of Istanbul and transformed a small stone house in Kazdağları into our workshop. Here, everything is quieter, more mindful. Lavender picked at first light, cold-pressed jojoba oil, freshly extracted floral essences... Every ingredient becomes a ceremony. When we craft our products, we’re not just making cream; we are preserving the ancient art of connecting with the skin and the earth.

The Big Secrets of Small Batch Production

At Bagno di Roma, every cream is handmade. No petroleum jelly, no parabens, no synthetic fragrances. Instead, we use organic olive oil ripened under Anatolia’s sun, wild thyme from the Aegean, and bay leaves from Kazdağları. All our products are registered with the Ministry of Health and go through international audits. But the most important inspection, as Galen wrote, is this: "Nature is the most meticulous inspector of all."

Beyond Production: Respect for Nature

For us, responsibility is not just about making — it's about sustaining. Years ago, our journey began by adopting Mediterranean monk seals. Today, it continues through partnerships with several environmental NGOs. Because we know the secret to enjoying tea under a tree’s shade begins with protecting that tree.

Our Present: Ancient Tradition, Modern Touch

Today, my wife Tuba and I continue our work with the gentle breeze of Kazdağları surrounding us. While we take pride in our “Process Improvement Inspired by Nature” project, which was a finalist in the Ministry of Industry and Technology’s 2021 Productivity Project Awards, we remember that we are students of nature above all.

Bagno di Roma is much more than a brand to us — it is a way of life. In every product you apply to your skin, the ancient wisdom of Galen of Pergamon meets the refreshing winds of Kazdağları. Because true beauty is hidden in formulas that time cannot erase. We are not the inventors of these formulas — we are the ones bringing them back to life.
